Discovery of Grotte de Lascaux

Lascaux Cave is one of the largest caves with Paleolithic by the number and the aesthetic quality of his works. It is sometimes nicknamed the "Sistine Chapel of cave art". The paintings and engravings it contains could not be precise dating direct: their age is estimated between about 18,000 and 17,000 years before present from dating and studies on objects discovered in the cave. According to the authors, they are attributed to the Magdalenian or former Solutrean that precedes it.
